As many of you know, I just experienced a very big loss in my life.  That of my dear Aunt Ingrid.  It is still too fresh to discuss in detail, but I do appreciate the outpouring of love and support I received during that time.

Each day it gets just a little better and I know over time I will be able to feel the good and the joy of her life rather than my sadness.

What I did want to talk about today was a subject that is so under-valued in our society today, our elderly.

They require special care.  They need community and love.  They want to share with you their lives.

I feel very lucky that senior care has been near and dear to my heart for so long.

In those final days with Ingrid, it was a blessing to have helped written “The Senior Organizer.”  I can’t tell you how much easier that little paperback made those last few weeks.

To have all of my dear Aunt’s personal, legal, and even advance directives in one place, written out plainly.  I can’t imagine trying to go through those days without the compass that simple binder provided.

It helped everyone that knew Ingrid take better care of her in life and to know her final wishes.

As strange as it might sound, it made me want to call everyone I knew and have them get the “Senior Organizer” immediately.

Truly, none of us wants to face getting older or our loved ones aging to the point they can no longer tell us their thoughts and feelings, but that time approaches us all.  Some quickly, some slowly.  It is up to us to decide how prepared we want to be during that difficult time.
