Americans will spend $447.1 billion during the 2010 holiday season, according to the National Retail Federation, an industry trade group. Much of that cash will be spent via the Web, all on one day: Cyber Monday, the first Monday after Thanksgiving, when bargain-hungry shoppers boot up their computers and go surfing for deals.

Cyber Monday is an increasingly important day for online shopping, and Web-based businesses are encouraging customers to part with their cash by offering big savings, free shipping and special gifts. In 2009 87% of retailers offered specific Cyber Monday promotions, attracting 96.5 million shoppers.

Many of America’s biggest retailers are participating, including Kohl’s, Target, Best Buy and Victoria’s Secret. So are many smaller, chic boutiques. From laptops to lingerie, they’re offering deals that will make venturing out to a crowded mall even less desirable.

The massive cosmetics site is offering 20% off hair straightening irons, blow dryers, and curling irons, and 20-80% on other items. Shoppers who spend $50 or more will receive a $10 gift card.
